HOLIDAY PARTY!
By Mrs. Claus
Dear, dear children of all ages, and children at heart! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I am so grateful to all of the elves who have stepped forward to help out with the Holiday Party. Gracias! Merci! Danke! And, Thank-You, too! Santa and I had a great time this summer in Hawaii surfing with the Surf longboard instead of the Sleigh and reindeer… But now we’re back and ready for y’all! We hope you are too. See you from 7-9 at the NEW LOCATION this year, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, on Tuesday, December 9th. See the enclosed flyer for details!

WORLD AIDS DAY
DEC. 1
By Tony Teano
The Anne Arundel County World AIDS Day Committee has put together a great agenda to observe this international event. It begins at the Annapolis City Docks at 6:30PM with a candle light walk, and ends with an interfaith gathering at the Stanton Center, followed by a delicious, nutritious meal.

HELP ME, RHONDA!
By Rhonda Vous
Q.
What’s the 411 on AIDSVAX?
A. Last
month, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that VaxGen's experimental AIDS vaccine, dubbed
“AIDSVAX,” couldn't block HIV infection among volunteers in Thailand. The vaccine had no noticeable effect on
infection rates among the 2,546 intravenous drug users in Bangkok who
volunteered for the study. Nor did it slow the disease's progress among
volunteers who took the vaccine and later contracted HIV.
“Help
me, Rhonda!” should not be construed as a replacement or substitute for a
medical professional. Always talk to
your doctor and case manager about your health concerns. Send your question via snail-mail or email,
or ring up Rhonda at the office!

NEW YEAR’S EVE
By Tony Teano
“What are you doing New Year’s Eve?” If you are like me, and countless others around the world, you will consider (though may not quite commit to) a New Year’s Resolution. The only one I’ve been able to keep true to is that which has become my motto, “Don’t wait ‘til your hitched to let yourself go!” New Year’s Eve gives us an opportunity to look at how we spend our time and what we really want to do with it. It’s a time full of reflection and forecasting. Let me posit another question if you are looking for increased, meaningful ways to spend your time… Why not resolve to become more involved in the HAVEN Family? As a regular at HAVEN Friends. As a Buddy. Spending your time in these ways is enriching for everyone! There’s a niche for you here, no matter how much time you have. And if you are already involved with giving rides or being on the board of directors or helping with special events, we know you are giving as much as you can, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. We value you.
