| Annual Report for 2004 |
These are the ways we implemented our mission in the calendar year 2004 for 126 individuals. HAVEN was founded in 1989. Since we began keeping data 9 years ago, we have provided similar support for 708 people living with HIV or AIDS in Anne Arundel County.
|
- 39 adults and 1 youth had a buddy, attended HAVEN Friends, or used other buddy services.
- 1034 rides were provided to 49 consumers by HAVEN-trained volunteers.
- 39 consumers participated 597 times in one or more of our 4 different support groups.
- 11 were residents at either Our House or Our Place, our two three-bed transitional housing programs.
- $39,204 in federal funds was disbursed in 164 vouchers to 71 individuals for emergency rent and utilities, and $5,239 provided monthly bus passes for 34.
- $500 was disbursed from private funds to 7 people for one funeral and various personal needs.

| In addition, we gathered as a whole community four times: spring and fall picnics on Sullivan's Cove; World AIDS Day in Annapolis; and our Holiday Party, assisted by many returning volunteers from the Community College, the Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae, Food Link, and the Metropolitan Community Church of the Chesapeake. |
Support: Ryan White Title I and Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS grants provide a major source of funds, but we are dependent upon private donations to make up 25% of our annual budget. Ecumenical support is pledged by St. Margaret's Episcopal Chuch, St. Mary's Catholic Church, the United Methodist Conference, and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis. A pool of 60 volunteers and free meeting and office space leverage these dollars to help us provide more direct service. There are 4.5 paid staff, 5 support group facilitators, and a part-time accountant. Administrative costs are only 20% of our total expenditures. |
